SERIAL Heavy Industries

LANCER is a Tabletop Roleplaying game in which the player's character are exceptional Mech pilots, riding customized machines into battle in a far distant future as humanity expands into the stars, with all the opportunities and issues this entails.

Lancer's setting rocks. Thousands of years into the future, many humans escaped Earth's societal and ecological collapse in slow ships aimed at the stars. And yet, against all odds, Earth's humans survived, then thrived, then aimed at the stars to find their relatives. Over time, some of those colonies begat their own cultures with their own conflicts, some at odds with the Earth's new pan-galactic governin body, Union. In 5016u, this government has brought near-utopian prosperity to many of the worlds under its care, while struggling to do the same with those at the edges, while also dealing the machinations of greedy pangalactic corporate states with their own twisted agendas. This kind of setting provides ample opportunities to tell stories with social, political, and emotional depth. There's a lot an enterprising GM can explore in this world.

Lancer's system is, well, a bit of an odd one. In most normal situations involving the Player Characters, you will be playing under its Narrative system. Mechanically, it's relatively simple, if not too simple. It gets the job done, regardless. The characters have mech-related stats, and can build highly-customizable mechs influenced by those stats, which, it must be said, have literally no bearing on the Narrative system. When the pilots get on their machines and have to fight others, there's a big, crunchy as heck, actuall quite fun Mech Combat system.
