In the far distant future, after ecological collapse and what can be defined as "getting their shit together", humanity has expanded into the stars. Twice, even -- the first time to escape the aforementioned collapse. The galactic hegemon, known as Union, is in its third form of government since its inception 5,000 years ago -- and one that aims for utopian ideals of equality and prosperity. In theory.
Of course, the fringes don't get the same equality and prosperity, but the effort remains. When conflict arises and the usual means of resolution fail, the cavalry comes in: Exceptional Pilots, riding highly personalized Mechanized Chassis, built with cutting edge technology of the Corpro States that coexist with Union.
